An ammonia leak occurred at the Timaru plant in New Zealand on Thursday evening, causing nine people to be taken to hospital.
At 21:35, the New Zealand Fire and Rescue Service received a report of the incident. Eight FENZ teams and a specialized accident response unit worked with engineers to reduce the pressure in the system and decontaminate the plant area on Meadows Road.
Before the ambulance crews arrived, firefighters provided oxygen to the victims.
The leak was successfully repaired, and rescue teams left the scene around two in the morning.
