The Bulgarian government started thinking after refusing to pay for gas in rubles, said the country's Energy minister Alexander Nikolov. He stressed that there is no need to refuse to pay in Russian currency now. Nikolov pointed out that Germany and Italy did the same.
According to the minister, the Bulgarian government will raise this issue during a meeting with the European Commission.
"The level of solidarity and unity should be as high as possible. The European Commission has made it clear that payments in rubles are a violation of sanctions. The question is whether corporations and state—owned companies should be distinguished," REN TV quotes the politician.
