History of the treasure of the old Perm house

Porcelain from the ground: in Perm showed an ancient treasure. Snow-white table porcelain, fragile glass, as well as copper utensils — more than 250 items in an old wooden box - such a find was discovered by the Kama archaeological expedition in the center of Perm.

This treasure archaeologists call "lucky" for good reason: it could not destroy any revolution, nor the construction of the new time. In the tea room "Gribushin" archaeologists of the Perm University and the staff of the Perm Museum of local lore held a presentation of ancient sets.

The day and place of presentation of the sets were not chosen by chance: the house number 16 on Pokrovskaya street (now-Lenin street), in which the treasure was stored, was located opposite Gribushin's house. And November 15 is the birthday of the Perm Museum of local lore, to which the find will be transferred to permanent storage.

The story of the treasure began this summer, when the Kama archaeological expedition of Perm University conducted excavations at the cultural heritage site "Perm provincial settlement". The works were of a protective nature: part of the archaeological monument was studied, which would be destroyed during the construction of the polyclinic building. In accordance with the legislation, excavations are a mandatory part of the preparatory stage before construction.

— We were finishing work on the site and didn't expect any surprises from this site. It remained to disassemble the object, which looked like an ordinary garbage pit of the early XX century. There we also found a box which walls already decayed, but inside it there was densely laid ware, - Maria Mingaleva, the employee of the Kama archaeological expedition of PGNIU, the head of excavations tells.

All the articles were carefully wrapped with old Newspapers of 1916-1917, which, on opening the box, crumbled, leaving partially imprints on the dishes.

— Among the printed publications were, for example, the newspaper "Russian word" in 1917 and the magazine "Woman and mistress" with patterns. Most likely, the porcelain was buried so that it did not get to the Bolsheviks, so that it was not stolen. We also assume that the owner of the treasure made it before leaving, - says Maria Mingaleva.

On brands on porcelain it was succeeded to establish that ware was made at the Riga, Dulevsky, Dmitrov factories of "Association of production of porcelain, faience and majolica products of M. S. Kuznetsov".

— By the beginning of XX century "Partnership" United 18 plants and factories. Kuznetsov's factories produced about 2/3 of Russian porcelain. Among the found dishes there is a table service of the Riga factory — not quite an ordinary thing. The matter is that in Russia it was accepted to do table ware from more democratic material-faience. This same service-fine porcelain. It was believed that this is the right investment, ie. its owners were well-off people, whose way of life was established and who were going to use this dish for decades, - says Elena Artishcheva, curator of the collection of decorative, applied and fine arts of the Perm Museum of local lore.

It remains to be seen who owned the house in the yard of which the box of services was found. Research scientists Perm University about the house and the owners of the treasure will continue historians of the Perm Museum of local lore.

— Similar finds of sets met in old houses of Perm, but not all of them got to the Museum. Such a large-scale archaeological find of utensils was found for the first time. The entire treasure will be fully deposited in the Perm Museum of local lore and will be a worthy addition to its funds — - said Svetlana neganova, head of the Department of history of the Perm Museum of local lore.

You can see the find of Perm archaeologists from December 17 In the house of Meshkov (Monastyrskaya str., 11). At the exhibition, the treasure of the already defunct Perm house will be presented in full.
