Export of ice cream from Russia in the first quarter of 2020 increased by 11.4% compared to the indicator for the same period in 2019 and amounted to 5.6 thousand tons, the Ministry of agriculture said in a statement.
It is reported that the volume of exports in monetary terms amounted to more than 10 million dollars. According to the Ministry, this is almost 20% of the total export of dairy products from Russia, reports TASS.
So, at the end of 2019, 22 thousand tons of ice cream worth 53.4 million dollars were delivered abroad. The products were exported to 38 countries, including Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Ukraine, China and Belarus. At the same time, the Ministry of agriculture calls Asian markets the most promising direction for expanding the export of Russian ice cream.
It is specified that the most popular in the importing countries is the classic ice cream. The main volume of demand falls on the hottest months — in the period from April to August.
"Given the dynamics of ice cream exports, which is characterized by a steady increase in supplies, in the short term, the Ministry of agriculture forecasts a further increase in the indicator — on average by 5-10% per year," the report says.
Ice cream is considered one of the highest quality Russian products and is highly appreciated abroad.
