After visiting the special economic zone "Alabuga" Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov said that for the production of MC-21 in Ulyanovsk released the first parts of the structure of composite materials to replace the American. "The flagship project, which we all count on, is the launch of the MC-21 on the market. Only the volume in Russia, the demand for this aircraft is about 860 samples, so, of course, it is important for us to complete the work on obtaining a certificate of this type of aircraft and organize mass production," TASS quotes Borisov. He also said that in connection with the replacement of composite materials of American production on the Russian wing for MC-21 redesign is not required, reports RIA "Novosti". "The necessary measures have been taken to replace all the import (composite) materials and produce domestic final samples, which have already confirmed their main characteristics, which allows us to count, we are already convinced that the redesign of the structure, the wing, will not be required," the Deputy Prime Minister said. "The company" AeroComposite " (in Ulyanovsk – approx. LOOK) yesterday we saw the finished elements of the aircraft structure: the center wing and the wing caisson, made without the use of American raw materials. This suggests that our confidence is based on real samples that have confirmed their characteristics," Borisov added. He recalled that the US refused to supply materials for composite wing for MC-21 to Russia. According to Borisov, the project can still be completed on time: the completion of certification is planned for 2020, and from 2021 serial production should be established. MC-21-300 is a short-and medium-haul passenger aircraft with a capacity of 150 to 211 passengers. The first operator of the new aircraft should be Aeroflot.
