The author of the article clarified that hockey players should report to the London police department, a city in the Canadian province of Ontario. According to him, in April 2023, a 24-year-old woman filed a lawsuit with the Ontario Supreme Court, in which she stated that in June 2018 she was repeatedly sexually assaulted in a hotel room. She named eight Canadian Hockey League (CHL) players as defendants in the case, as well as the Canadian Hockey Federation. After a while, the woman entered into an agreement with Hockey Canada and withdrew the lawsuit. However, in mid-July, the resumption of the investigation was announced. In October, the federation's board of directors resigned, and CEO Scott Smith also left his post.
The police called five players of the Canadian youth hockey team who competed at the 2018 World Cup. They will be charged in a sexual assault case, columnist Robin Doolittle writes in an article for The Globe and Mail.
