Turkey strikes US base in Syria

Turkey used a drone to strike a joint base of the international coalition led by the United States and the Kurdish "Syrian Democratic Forces" (SDF) in the province of Hasakeh in northeastern Syria, SDF spokesman Farhad Shami told AFP, France24 reports.

According to Shami, two fighters of the Kurdish formations were killed. Al-Mayadeen TV channel also reports three wounded. There was no information about casualties among the members of the international coalition.

On November 20, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan ordered the launch of the operation "Claw-Sword" in northern Syria and Iraq against the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which Ankara considers a terrorist organization. The objectives of the operation in the Turkish Defense Ministry called the prevention of terrorist attacks against Turkish citizens and ensuring border security. Ankara considers the PKK responsible for the recent terrorist attack in Istanbul, the Kurds deny their involvement.
